The Pennsylvania Association for the Education of Young Children (PennAEYC) is the state affiliate of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

PennAEYC is a dynamic membership organization of early care and education professionals dedicated to PennAEYC's mission to be the voice of early childhood in Pennsylvania.

PennAEYC serves the early care and education community in Pennsylvania through a variety of chapters.  The Lehigh and Northampton Chapter of PennAEYC, incorporated in 1984 as a non-profit, is here to help you on the journey to improve educational opportunities for all young children.

Whether you're a teacher, assistant teacher, program director, higher ed faculty, student, family member, researcher, policymaker, administrator, or somewhere in between, we encourage you to click here to join the premier membership association for early learning professionals.

Our chapter provides a wide range of services and supports to members including networking and social activities, early education resources, professional development sessions, and grassroots advocacy.

Part of our advocacy efforts include being signed on as a supporting organization of two statewide issue advocacy campaigns: Pre-K for PA: All Children Ready to Succeed and Start Strong PA.

Building on the shared belief that all children should have the opportunity to enter school ready to succeed, a broad coalition of state organizations, including PennAEYC, launched the Pre-K for PA campaign in 2014. The campaign set out to make pre-k a priority issue in the gubernatorial and legislative elections, advocating increased access to high-quality pre-kindergarten for all Pennsylvania’s 3- and 4-year olds.

Start Strong PA, through a statewide collaboration of partners, was launched in January 2019, and aims to support healthy child development, working families, and the economy by increasing access to and affordability of high-quality child care programs for young children, starting with infants and toddlers.
